LG Electronics Obtains Certificate for Telecom Equipment Environmental Test in India

- Obtains QM-333 certificate for environmental testing conducted by TEC under the Department of Telecom of India
- LGE has proven its high quality in CDMA WLL system, terminal and CDMA handsets…Poised for full scale system deployment in India

LG Electronics - the primary CDMA WLL supplier in India - announced that it has obtained QM-333, telecom equipment environmental testing standard, for the WLL system, terminal and CDMA handset. QM-333 is the certificate issued by the Technical Engineer Center (TEC) under Department of Telecom, the government organization responsible for India's telecommunications industry.

Due to its unique environmental conditions, which include subtropical temperature and desert, India has very stringent environmental tests for telecommunications equipment that is the accumulation of the latest sophisticated technologies. All telecom equipment to be sold in India must obtain QM-333 certificate.

Specifically, LGE has obtained certification for 4 systems - CDMA WLL base station developed by LGE (Standard BTS), compact BTS, R2/No7 base station controller and V5.2 base station controller - and its WLL terminal (LST-200/230) and CDMA handset (Model: LG-DM110). With the certifications, these products are ready for full deployment in India.

The QM-333 test includes not only anti-low/high temperature, heat and shock tests for telecom equipment, but also a high humidity maintenance test to ensure that the equipment maintains its operation standard for lengthy periods time in a highly humid environment and a high humidity cycle test to ensure there are no changes in operation due to temperature. The certification and testing procedures are strenuous and meticulous requiring 6 weeks just for testing.

LGE established LGSYS (LG Electronics System India, Ltd.) in Noida, near Delhi, which is equipped to produce 600,000 lines of WLL systems a year. It has also been chosen as the primary supplier of WLL in India and has signed a system supply contract valued at approximately US$240 million.
